Location: Trexlertown (Ocean State Job Lot)
Category: Integrated Pest Exclusion & Facility Maintenance
OMNIServiceUSA executed a comprehensive “Seal the Box” initiative at the Trexlertown facility, focusing on high-vulnerability zones including the electrical room, seasonal department, and warehouse logistics.
This project addressed structural breaches caused by wear and tear to prevent pest infiltration and stabilize interior environments.
The facility’s perimeter was compromised by aging door sweeps and structural gaps, particularly around emergency exits and overhead warehouse doors. The electrical room presented a high-risk scenario with open expansion joints near the transformer and gaps around pipe penetrations—ideal conditions for nesting below grade. Furthermore, the warehouse overhead door (No. 5) had a failing bottom seal that had slipped its tracks, creating an easy entry point for rodents and environmental elements.
Our facility maintenance team deployed a multi-point exclusion strategy:
High-Performance Door Restoration: We replaced failing sweeps on four critical emergency and warehouse doors using a dual-layer system: Xcluder® rodent-proof sweeps paired with industrial brush seals for a light-tight, pest-proof finish.
Electrical Room Sub-Grade Repair: To address potential nesting under the transformer, we cleared the expansion joints, backfilled with pea gravel for stability, and tucked copper mesh into the void. The repair was finalized with a gray self-leveling sealant to create a durable, flush surface.
Penetration Sealing: Gaps around pipes and catwalk infrastructure were armored with copper mesh and sealed with specialized rodent-proof spray foam, which contains bittering agents to deter gnawing.
Overhead Door Overhaul: We removed the compromised seal on Warehouse Door No. 5 and installed a new 76-inch Xcluder® bottom seal, ensuring the door tracks were clear and the seal was properly seated to eliminate gaps.
